Sturgeon Fishing in San Francisco Bay
And, then there are the prehistoric Great White Sturgeon affectionately known as “Dinos” or “Diamondbacks.” Keeper-sized (legal to keep) Sturgeon measure from 46″ to 66″ (in total length). Many oversized Sturgeon (over 66″ in total length) are routinely caught in the Bay, including a recent catch in early 2011 of a 13 foot long Sturgeon! When you book a Sturgeon Charter with Captain Don, you will have the experience of a lifetime fishing for these giant fish. Just bring your fishing license (including Sturgeon Report Card), camera and lunch – and don’t forget it’s San Francisco, so dress in layers!! These photos will show you what a great sturgeon fishery we have in the San Francisco Bay Area.
